Honoring our longstanding traditions, Kossuth Square will once again host a ceremonial military tribute as the Hungarian national flag is raised, followed by the public oath-taking ceremony of the newly graduated officer cadets of the Nemzeti Közszolgálati Egyetem (National University of Public Service), which visitors can watch on August 20. Following the flag-raising and officer commissioning, the military air show hugely popular in recent years, will take place over the Danube, viewable from both the Pest and Buda embankments.

In the evening, the whole nation can celebrate together at Kossuth Square at the large-scale party called Diszkótér(Disco Square). In front of the Parliament building, popular current hits will play alongside well-known songs from past decades on the evening of August 20, so that every generation can find their favorite tunes.

A special visual highlight of the event is the light projection on the Hungarian Parliament Building, making the festive evening even more memorable. Surrounded by lights and music in this historic setting, the square in front of Parliament becomes, for one evening, a shared dance floor for the whole country, where everyone can experience togetherness and joyful, shared celebration.

In addition, on August 20, the day marking the foundation of the Hungarian state, the Hungarian Parliament Building will open its doors to the public free of charge and without prior registration as part of the Nyitott Parlament (Open Parliament) programme. On this day, visitors can admire the building's stunning interior spaces up close, including the Díszlépcsőház (Grand Staircase) and the Kupolacsarnok (Dome Hall).
